Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Dots is developed and published by Programavimo ekspertas, MB ("Soloway", "we", "us"), a company registered in Lithuania. This policy explains how the Dots app for iPhone and iPad ("Dots", "the app") handles your information.

By using Dots you agree to this privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Our approach: privacy by design

Dots is a local-first app. It is built so that the things you write stay with you:

• We do not require an account and do not ask you to sign in.
• We do not show ads and do not use any advertising identifiers (such as IDFA).
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• The app does not send your entries, your notes, or the names of your categories to us or to anyone else.
• We do collect a small amount of anonymous usage and crash data so we can fix bugs and decide what to build next. You can switch this off at any time — see section 5.

3. What data Dots stores, and where

The content you create in Dots is stored locally on your device (using Apple's on-device database). This includes:

• the actions you create (their names, chosen icons and colours);
• your log entries ("dots"), including their dates and any optional notes you add;
• your daily mood, rest days, goals and streak information;
• your in-app settings and preferences.

This data is only accessible on your device. We cannot see it.

4. Optional iCloud sync

Dots offers optional syncing across your own Apple devices. This feature is turned off by default and only works if you enable it. When enabled, your Dots data is synced through your personal, private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit.

This sync is handled entirely by Apple and stored in your private iCloud database. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

5. Analytics and crash reporting

Dots uses two Google services — Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics — to understand which parts of the app people actually use and to be told when the app crashes. Apart from the optional iCloud sync described above, this is the only data that leaves your device.

What is sent:

• which screens you open and how often (for example "Day" or "Insights");
• counts of a few key actions — that a dot was added, that a category was created, that the upgrade screen was shown, that a purchase completed, that a poster was shared;
• alongside those counts, fixed non-identifying attributes chosen from a short preset list, such as whether a category is a habit or an event, and which of our twelve preset colours it uses;
• your device model, iOS version, app version and language;
• crash reports: the stack trace and app state at the moment of a crash.

What is never sent: the names of your categories, your notes, your moods, the dates of anything you logged, your name, your email address, or any advertising identifier. We never attach an account or user ID to this data, so we cannot look up "your" statistics.

Rather than an identifier that could follow you elsewhere, Firebase uses a randomly generated app-instance ID that exists only for this installation of Dots on this device. Because that ID could in principle single out one installation, we treat this data as pseudonymous personal data under the GDPR rather than calling it fully anonymous.

How to switch it off. In Dots, open Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous stats" and turn it off. Collection stops immediately, and the app-instance ID is deleted so that nothing can link a later session to an earlier one. The setting is on by default; the app works exactly the same either way, and we will never nag you about it.

Who processes it. Google acts as our processor: Google Ireland Limited for users in the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the UK, and Google LLC in the United States. This means the data is transferred to the United States, which Google covers through the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. Legal basis and retention. We rely on our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in keeping Dots stable and in improving it — balanced against your privacy by collecting no content and no identity, and by giving you a one-tap way to object. Analytics event data is kept by Google for no longer than 14 months, after which only aggregated reports remain. Crash reports are kept while we work on the underlying issue.

No advertising. Google's advertising features are switched off for Dots: no advertising identifier is collected, ad-personalisation signals are disabled by default, and this data is never used to show you ads anywhere.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

Dots offers an optional paid subscription ("Dots Pro"). All purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We never receive or store your payment details or billing information.

To manage your subscription entitlement, the app checks your purchase status directly with Apple. Apple may provide us only with aggregated, anonymised sales and subscription reports. Payments and any billing data are handled under Apple's terms and privacy policy.

7. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Dots schedules gentle reminders locally on your device using iOS. These reminders are generated on your device — we do not send push notifications from our servers, and scheduling a reminder does not send any data to us.

8. App lock (Face ID / Touch ID / passcode)

You can optionally lock Dots behind Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. Biometric authentication is performed by iOS — we never receive your biometric data. If you set a passcode, it is stored securely in your device's Keychain and is never transmitted anywhere.

9. Data we do not collect

Dots does not request or collect:

• your location;
• your contacts;
• camera, photo library, or microphone content;
• health or fitness data;
• advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data.

10. Contacting support

If you email us for support, we will receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include in your message. We use this only to respond to and assist you, based on our legitimate interest in providing support.

11. Data retention and deletion

Because your entries live on your device, you are in control of them. You can edit or delete your entries at any time inside the app. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device. If you use iCloud sync, you can manage or remove that data through your device's iCloud settings. Usage and crash data is retained as described in section 5.

12. Children's privacy

Dots is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

13. Your rights

Dots does not send your personal content to us, so we hold very little about you. Where applicable law (such as the EU GDPR) grants you rights — including access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and objection — you may contact us to exercise them regarding any data we do hold, such as support correspondence.

The usage and crash data described in section 5 carries no name, email or account, so we have no way to find the records belonging to a particular person and cannot answer an access or deletion request for it. What you can do instead is exercise your right to object at any time by switching off Settings → Privacy → "Share anonymous stats", which stops collection and deletes the identifier tying past events together.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page and take effect upon posting. Please review it periodically. This policy is effective as of July 28, 2026.
